Sixth Form Activities

Revision Guide Booklet now available in Post 16 Study Area

We offer a lot more than academic excellence. Our Sixth Formers work hard, enjoy life and celebrate their successes. At Francis Combe Academy you will be expected to develop your interests and abilities through many opportunities and activities, and we are planning more. Previously the Sixth Form provided a wide range of activities, outlined below:

  • A day trip to Portsmouth University Open Day, which allows individuals to experience higher education at a city University.
  • A residential event at The University of Leicester in the summer term were Learners stay at halls of residence and attend seminars on everything you need to know about life at a campus based university.
  • A political debate staged in the Sixth Form where members of main parties were invited, along with students from other schools, to debate the topical issues of the day.
  • Sixth Form Learners produce and perform the school pantomime as part of the Christmas festivities. This is one of the great traditions of the Sixth Form. There are also opportunities for Sixth Formers to take part in other whole school productions, both on stage and behind the scenes.
  • Any Sixth Former can volunteer to be a ‘Buddy’ which is a fantastic opportunity to mentor and provide support for students in the main body of the school.
  • Sixth Formers support a number of charities including Jeans for Genes and Children in Need. Fundraising provides an opportunity to have fun and work with the younger pupils.
  • Sixth Formers are expected to take part in community service, choosing areas such as the Academy itself, primary schools, Senior Citizens party, fund raising disco’s for the lower school or assisting with extra curricular clubs and events.
