The Sixth Form at Francis Combe Academy strives to ensure that all learners focus on progression, through to Higher Education or a higher level of employment. The aim is for learners to adopt the ethos that Sixth Form is another step in their life long learning journey.
Everyone has different dreams and ambitions for their future life, and staying on at Francis Combe Academy in the Sixth Form can really help you on your path to success. It's important to have the qualifications and skills necessary to take you where you want to go. This might mean having qualifications to get a good university place, or you might want to gain more practical experience and qualifications before starting work.
There will be many courses for you to choose from in the Sixth Form. For starters, there will be AS and A-Level subjects available. You can also choose to study from a range of vocational qualifications, which means you are able to achieve BTEC level 2 or 3. Vocational qualifications are designed to give individuals the useful, practical knowledge and skills necessary for starting their career.
You can also take GCSE re-sits of Maths and English if your results aren't as good as you would have liked.
The Academy offers a predominantly academic experience in its Sixth Form, and our learners have high expectations and aspirations. We anticipate that many of our Year 11 leavers will want to continue in the Sixth Form at The Francis Combe Academy, and we also welcome applications from students from other schools who wish to enter the Academy at this stage of their education. External students will increasingly form a much valued and important role in the ethos and overall development of the Sixth Form. Sixth Formers will have the opportunity to be involved in the wider life of the Academy by organising events, helping in the community and taking on positions of responsibility. More details about our Sixth Form can be found in a separate Sixth Form prospectus, available from the Academy.
