Welcome to Francis Combe Academy, School of Mathematics. Please find below information for year 7 revision.
The Maths exam will be a general paper which is similar to a KS2 SATs paper in content and in layout.
Students should revise any Maths topic that they feel they are weak at. For example if a student finds percentages and averages difficult – these topics can be found on mymaths.co.uk and students can find revision questions to suit their ability.
The following topics have been taught during year 7
Algebra – number patterns, functions and mappings, substituting numbers into algebraic expressions, sequences
Number – place value, positive and negative numbers, decimals, square numbers
Geometry – perimeters and areas of rectangles
Number 2 – equivalent fractions, fractions of amounts, percentages
Statistics – averages, interpreting graphs, probability
Algebra 2 – order of operations, simplifying expressions, substitution
Geometry 2 – angles, properties of triangles and quadrilaterals, coordinates
Statistics 2 – data collection, bar charts, pie charts
Number 3 – rounding, multiplication and division methods
Algebra 3 – multiples and factors, square and triangular numbers, rules for sequences, coordinates, straight line graphs
