Minutes from the last Parents Forum:
Why we have a Parent forum
The Francis Combe Academy Parent Forum encourages parents/carers (hereafter referred to simply as parents) to have a voice in the way the academy is run. It is one of the ways that the Academy actively listens to the parent voice.
Objectives
The forum will:
• Enable parents and Academy staff to work together to ensure the best possible educational experience and outcome for the pupils.
• Identify and represent the views of parents on all matters affecting the education and welfare of the pupils.
• Provide Academy staff the opportunity to consult with parents on Academy policies and decisions.
• Provide Governors with an opportunity to hear parent’s views.
Membership
ALL parents are automatically members of the forum. All parents will be able to participate via the web site and or attendance at meetings.
Who is in charge?
The forum is run by parents for parents. Each meeting will be chaired by one of the Parent Governors with the Principal or a member of the senior leadership team in attendance. Meeting agendas are set by the Chairperson following input from
• Parents via the web site
• The student council
• The Principal
• Direct input at the meeting under AOB
The meetings
Meetings will be held at the Academy once every half term from 7 pm until 8.30 pm.
Dates will be published in advance on the web site and through other Academy communications like the newsletter and email. Meetings will be relaxed and informal but will be chaired by one of the Parent governors and will have a set agenda for discussion. Parents will have an opportunity to raise additional matters under the “AOB” section.
Parents do not need to give advanced notice of attendance but are encouraged to do so.
Notes from the meeting and any actions as a result of discussions will be posted on the website.
