Great attendance = great success
At Francis Combe Academy we want all our students to strive to improve their attendance year on year. We expect students to aim for between 95% -100% attendance.
If students miss lessons they miss unique learning opportunities and hamper their progress.
We ask parents/carers:
- To support us by insisting that students attend school unless they are ill.
- To phone the number below on the each day of absence and send written confirmation of absence once your son/daughter has returned to the Academy.
- To ensure that where possible, medical appointments are made outside of the Academy day.
- Not to book any holidays during term time*.
* Students are not ‘entitled’ to take holidays during term time. If there are extenuating circumstances, then parents must apply to the Principal for authorisation by completing an Application for Leave of Absence Form, available online or from student services at least two weeks before any requested leave of absence.
Fixed term penalties are applied rigorously for unauthorised absences. If the penalty is not paid prosecution is likely.
