Francis Combe Academy Assignments/Independent Study

Homework is an essential part of the learning process and is set in most subjects. All Faculties prepare homework assignments, carefully ensuring that these tasks enhance and build on the learning experienced by learners in lessons. Tasks set include research, practising skills, applying learning, revising and recapping key terms and concepts. Some Faculties set longer, project-type homework assignments.
The objective of homework is to prepare learners to be more independent in their studies. It also provides excellent opportunities for learners to become good time managers as well as developing their knowledge and understanding.
All learners are given a homework timetable and are expected to record homework in their planners. A copy of the homework timetable is sent out to parents and carers at the start of the academic year.
The following table is a summary of the subjects that set assignments and approximate assignment time allocations for each Key Stage.
