Academy Opportunities
Our Academy is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.
If there were a league table for warm and welcoming Academies and Schools - Francis Combe would almost certainly be found at the top! Relationships around the Academy, in the Staff Room and the Classroom have been described by many as “very special”. Visitors also comment on our friendly and caring ethos - which is evident throughout the Academy and has become an integral part of the environment. Our teaching and non teaching staff work hard as one team and their vision and aims can be summarised as “Learning Transforms Lives”.
If you are a Newly Qualified Teacher, our leadership team will be delighted to share their wealth of experience and happy to provide support and encouragement. We have successfully guided many new teachers through their important first year and have a well-structured induction programme in place, which is led and co-ordinated by our own Specialist Consultant. Many of our past NQTs have remained at Francis Combe beyond their Induction Year – indeed seven members of the current Academy Leadership Team joined us as NQTs!!
All staff joining the Academy will receive a comprehensive Academy Staff Induction and also an individual, department induction. We aim to provide support and guidance for all staff, particularly during their first few weeks in post.
Over the years Francis Combe has received many awards, most recently it has gained accreditation as a Hertfordshire Healthy School (which meets the criteria of the National Healthy School Standard). In addition, it has also been awarded Hub School status by the DCSF and now as an Academy continues to lead the development of Extended Schooling within the local community of feeder schools.
As a school, we held the Investors in People award for over twelve years, as an Academy Francis Combe fully intends to continue to … ‘invest in our people’! We are keen to find or create opportunities for personal and professional development and a number of teaching and non-teaching staff have been supported in their studies to gain additional qualifications and so further their careers. Indeed, Continuing Professional Development is a major focus for the Academy and personal development is planned with individual and Academy priorities in mind. In this way the Academy aims to maximise the potential of its workforce and enable the young people in its care to achieve the best possible outcomes.
So, if you think Francis Combe could be somewhere you would like to work, we warmly invite you to find out about any vacancies by either clicking on the link below or contacting Julie Chapman our HR Manager.
