Three Rivers and Watford School Sports Partnership

Three Rivers and Watford Schools Partnership

The Francis Combe Academy is part of the Three Rivers and Watford School Sports Partnership (SSP). The other secondary schools in the SSP are Rickmansworth, St Joan of Arc, St Clement Danes, St Michaels, Parmiters and Garston Manor.

SSPs operate throughout the country. The challenge for 2008 to 2011 is to create a world-class system of PE and sport for young people, and we want to offer them 5 hours of sporting opportunities a week. SSPs are responsible for driving the school element of the 5 hour offer. Their role is to ensure that all 5-16yr olds have access to high quality physical education and sport in a school setting and that all 16-19yr olds have access to high quality sport in a college setting. The Partnership is also responsible for creating the demand for all young people to continue to play sport in a community environment beyond school or college. It should forge meaningful relationships with community providers to ensure that the community sport offer reflects young people’s demands and is appropriate and suitably engaging.

Damien Ricketts

The person leading this at Francis Combe Academy is Damien Ricketts, School Sports Coordinator (SSCo).

His 2 days at Francis Combe Academy are shared with a cluster of primary schools to coordinate and develop school sport opportunities and community sport pathways. The primary schools are: Beechfield School, Cherry Tree Primary, Orchard JMI, Parkgate Infant & Nursery, Parkgate Junior and Holy Rood Primary.

There is a lot planned for 2009/10. Click here for calendar of events [link to calendar of events]. If you wish to contact Mr. Ricketts please do so on: 01923 665 868 or email: dricketts.ssco@hotmail.com
