Behaviour, Sanctions and Detentions

As an academy we should all (students, staff & parents) accept that poor behaviour is not to be tolerated. We must work together in a supportive way to promote an atmosphere where our students learn, develop and thrive in a positive and happy environment. It is the responsibility of the student to behave appropriately but to attend any sanctions/detentions given.

Expectations

  • Staff are expected to plan lessons which are accessible to all students with a variety of activities, catering for all learning styles. At the same time they should stretch all students and include regular assessment and target setting. Staff are also expected to maintain firm but fair discipline in the academy.
  • Students are expected to behave in a way which allows teachers to teach and learners to learn. Ideally they should never cross the boundaries of unacceptable behaviour as outlined in the ‘Behaviour Policy’. Where these boundaries are crossed students are expected to accept the first line of sanction.
  • Parents/carers should support their child and the academy in modelling and promoting good attitudes to learning and accepting sanctions where appropriate.
